Child safety standards
Last updated 4 November 2026
Zero tolerance. Mate does not allow child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) of any kind, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, and any sexual contact with or sexualisation of minors.
Adults only
Mate is for people aged 18 and over. Everyone confirms their age when they set up the app, and anyone who says they are under 18 can't continue. The Play listing is rated for adults.
How to report
- In the app: open the person's profile or your chat with them, tap the menu, choose Report, and pick Under 18 or Illegal content. You can attach the messages that show the problem. You can also block them at once.
- By email: safety@piashare.com. We read these first.
- If a child is in immediate danger, call the police on 191 first. In Thailand you can also report online child abuse to the Thailand Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (TICAC).
What we do
- We review CSAE reports first, before any others.
- We ban the account and the person behind it, and remove anything they posted on our server.
- We report child sexual abuse material and exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to the Thai police, as the law requires, and we preserve the reported evidence for them for at least one year.
- We cooperate with lawful requests from authorities investigating child exploitation.
Messages on Mate are end-to-end encrypted, so we can only see content that someone reports to us. That is why reports matter: they are how we find and stop abuse.
Our design
- Mate shows only adults who confirmed they are 18 or over.
- Anyone can block, remove or report another person at any time.
- Banned people are kept out of the app and its server.
